Think Robotics, the technology arm of Highendurology, has unveiled a Potent 160W holmium laser system for prostate surgery at Grandville Medical Centre, Surulere, Lagos.

The launch was part of a two-day endourology conference attended by urologists and other healthcare professionals to discuss advances in surgical techniques, specialist training and medical technology.

The system is used for Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP), a minimally invasive procedure for treating benign prostatic enlargement, which can impair urinary function, particularly in older men.

Dr. Taiwo Opeyemi Alabi, a urologist associated with the initiative, discussed developments in minimally invasive prostate treatment and opportunities for specialist training in Nigeria.

The conference also examined how investment in technology and local expertise could improve access to specialist care and reduce the need for treatment abroad.
