Firm supports Sanwo-Olu’s vocational academy with graduate grants

The leading Nigerian distributor of MUNDO Tequila, Fidossi Wines & Spirits Ltd. (FWS), has reinforced its commitment to community development and youth empowerment by supporting the Lagos State Government’s vocational training initiative, the Project Lagos of Our Dream (LOUD) Academy.

At a combined graduation and induction ceremony held on February 4, 2025, the company provided financial support and practical startup tools to outstanding graduates, helping them transition from training into entrepreneurship.

The initiative aligns with the broader job-creation and skills-development agenda of Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whose administration has prioritised youth and women empowerment as a pathway to inclusive economic growth.

The LOUD Academy is designed to expand the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by equipping young people with market-relevant vocational skills. Fidossi Wines & Spirits has adopted the programme as a core component of its Corporate Social and Sustainability Investment (CCSI) strategy, committing to quarterly sponsorship of training sessions to ensure continuity and scale.

During the latest ceremony, the company awarded cash grants of ₦100,000 each to top-performing graduates to support their business start-ups. In addition, students who excelled in the academy’s mixology class received blenders and related equipment, enabling them to launch small-scale beverage enterprises or pursue careers in hospitality and event services.

Chief Executive Officer of Fidossi Wines & Spirits Ltd., Fidelis Egbochie, emphasised that the sponsorship reflects the company’s philosophy of shared prosperity and responsible corporate citizenship. According to him, investing in human capital within host communities creates long-term value for both society and business.

“We are a business that prioritises investment in our host communities. We believe in shared prosperity,” Egbochie said. “This is why we give back to society in ways that ensure growth and support the government’s broader economic and development goals.”

He added that the LOUD Academy provides an effective platform for private-sector participation in social development. By supporting the vocational programme, the company seeks to create opportunities for young people while promoting its flagship brand, MUNDO Tequila, in a socially responsible manner. Egbochie described the tequila as a premium Mexican spirit made with high blue Weber agave content, known for its smooth and versatile flavour profile suitable for both sipping and cocktails.

Beneficiaries of the sponsorship expressed gratitude and optimism about their prospects. Speaking on behalf of the graduating cohort, Akinsanya Elizabeth said the support had boosted their confidence to begin entrepreneurial journeys.

“It is exciting to see brands and businesses supporting aspiring young people like us,” she said. “We are grateful for the cash and equipment, which will help us start our businesses and become financially independent.”

Lagos State continues to confront the challenges of youth unemployment driven by rapid population growth and limited formal-sector job creation. Official figures placed youth unemployment in the state at about 5.5 percent in 2023. To address the gap, the government has expanded skills-acquisition programmes and encouraged partnerships with private organisations and development stakeholders to broaden opportunities at the grassroots level.

Fidossi Wines & Spirits’ sustained backing of the LOUD Academy illustrates the growing role of corporate organisations in complementing public-sector employment initiatives. By providing seed capital and tools to graduates, the company is helping translate vocational training into viable livelihoods, advancing the state’s ambition to build a resilient, skills-driven economy.
