Mathesis Analytics, a Nigerian financial technology company specialising in artificial intelligence (AI)-powered credit decisioning infrastructure, has secured an investment from institutional investor First Ally Capital to accelerate the expansion of its credit infrastructure across Nigeria and other African markets.

The company said the funding would strengthen its mission of improving access to credit for millions of Nigerians who remain unscored or underscored under the country’s traditional credit assessment system.

According to Mathesis Analytics, the investment will enable it to scale its proprietary credit decisioning platform, which allows financial institutions to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers with little or no formal credit history by analysing alternative behavioural and transactional data.

Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Mathesis Analytics, Winston Osuchukwu, said the partnership underscores growing confidence in the company’s vision of transforming Africa’s credit ecosystem.

“True financial inclusion cannot be achieved in isolation. It requires collaboration between lenders, fintech companies and other stakeholders across the financial ecosystem,” Osuchukwu said.

He explained that the company’s proprietary “Personal Equity” framework aggregates an individual’s financial behaviour across multiple institutions, creating a more comprehensive and portable measure of creditworthiness.

“By quantifying Personal Equity, we enable lenders to look beyond the limitations of traditional credit histories and better assess a borrower’s true financial behaviour. This investment will also support our pan-African expansion while strengthening the institutional-grade infrastructure our partners depend on,” he added.

Mathesis noted that fragmented financial data remains one of the biggest barriers to credit access in Nigeria, as borrowers often build positive financial records across fintech wallets, microfinance institutions and Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) platforms without such records being reflected in conventional credit systems.

The company said its technology consolidates these financial interactions into a unified credit identity, enabling lenders to make more informed lending decisions while expanding access to underserved customers.

Commenting on the investment, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of First Ally Capital, Ebenezer Olufowose, said the transaction aligns with the firm’s commitment to supporting technology-driven financial services that promote inclusive growth.

“Our investment in Mathesis Analytics reflects our commitment to supporting innovative financial technology solutions that create sustainable value and expand financial inclusion. Mathesis is redefining credit infrastructure, and we are pleased to support its vision of transforming access to finance across Africa,” Olufowose said.

Mathesis Analytics said financial institutions can deploy its infrastructure either as an intelligence layer integrated through application programming interfaces (APIs) to strengthen existing lending platforms or as a fully integrated end-to-end lending solution.

The company disclosed that its platform has facilitated more than eight million loans for over two million unique borrowers in Nigeria and is currently expanding its operations across other African markets.

With the latest investment, Mathesis said it is well positioned to deepen financial inclusion and strengthen credit infrastructure in partnership with lenders across the continent.
