The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Mr. Haruna Mohommed, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the incident, said that it took the concerted efforts of the residents to put out the fire.

He said that police patrol team attached to Awada division rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of the fire to loot property. He said that Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has been contacted to effect necessary repairs on the affected power line.
