More than 10,000 women are expected to participate in the fourth edition of FinTribe’s annual Finance Fair in Lagos on Saturday, as efforts to improve women’s access to financial knowledge, investment opportunities and wealth creation gain momentum.
The event, themed “I CAN,” will hold at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, from 10 a.m., with viewing centres in Abuja, Port Harcourt, Akwa Ibom and Enugu to extend participation beyond Lagos.
The initiative comes amid growing concerns over women’s financial security, income inequality and access to opportunities for building sustainable wealth, particularly among female entrepreneurs and small business owners.
Founder of FinTribe, Jennifer Awirigwe, popularly known as Financial Jennifer, said the fair was designed to bridge the gap between financial education and practical action, encouraging women to take greater control of their economic futures.
“Financial education is important, but knowledge must eventually become action. We want women to leave Finance Fair knowing that they can save, invest, grow their income, build businesses and take ownership of their financial future,” she said.
The fair is expected to bring together entrepreneurs, financial experts, business leaders and other stakeholders to discuss personal finance, savings, investments, income generation and entrepreneurship.
Among the expected personalities are filmmaker and actress Funke Akindele, Omoni Oboli, Bamike Olawunmi-Adenibuyan, popularly known as BamBam, Sola Adesakin, Lynda Aguocha, Dr Seyi Abiodun, also known as Seyi De Assistant, and Olufemi Shobanjo.
Beyond discussions and presentations, participants will have opportunities to engage with financial institutions, investment firms and fintech companies on available financial products and services.
Previous editions of the fair have featured business grants, cash prizes, international trips, plots of land and other forms of support for women. The organisers say the interventions are intended to help participants translate financial knowledge into opportunities for business development and wealth creation.
FinTribe, which says its community comprises more than 20,000 women across over 40 countries, has positioned financial literacy and collective savings and investment as key elements of its programmes.
Past speakers at the event have included Dr Ajoritsedere Awosika, Shaffy Bello, Ruth Kadiri, Nkiru Olumide-Ojo, TriciaBiz, Alex Unusual, Beauty Tukura and Dr Ayodeji Ebo.
With the theme “I CAN,” organisers are seeking to shift the conversation from awareness to measurable financial progress, urging women to take practical steps towards financial independence rather than remain passive recipients of financial advice.
Attendance is free, although prospective participants are required to register through the FinTribe website.
