Israel Refua, popularly known as Easy, has emerged winner of the maiden edition of the Film Crib Africa Reality Television Show, clinching a car, cash prize, movie deal and other rewards after a keenly contested 26-day competition.
Easy emerged victorious after competing alongside 45 other contestants in a reality show designed to discover, nurture and promote emerging African actors, filmmakers and storytellers.
Expressing gratitude after his victory, he attributed his success to God, his supporters and the opportunity to showcase his talent and originality throughout the competition.
“I give glory to God for winning the competition. I feel blessed and grateful because, without Him, I do not think it would have been possible for me to win,” he said.
According to him, the journey was challenging, but his determination and faith helped him remain focused until the end of the show.
Easy also acknowledged the role played by his fans, whom he said believed in his potential and encouraged him to participate in the competition.
“I have people who believed in me and saw something in me. They encouraged me to go into the competition and do my best. I came, gave my best and the rest is history,” he added.
The winner said the lessons and exposure gained during the programme would shape his future endeavours, particularly his ambition to establish a fashion school and use his knowledge to positively impact society.
He noted that the experience taught him the importance of discipline, humility, character and remaining true to oneself, adding that these qualities would help sustain and project him in the entertainment industry.
“Character will take you to places where other things may not be able to take you. The competition brought out my originality and taught me to be focused, disciplined, humble, real and truthful,” Easy said.
Tilly Tamara Priye emerged as the first runner-up and received a consolation prize of N500,000.
Priye described her experience on the show as rewarding, saying the journey helped her discover the love, support and gifts of people.
He said the competition taught her patience and strengthened her commitment to achieving her goals.
“I learnt to multiply my commitment, divide my distractions, subtract excuses and always have faith,” she said.
The first runner-up urged other contestants, especially those who exited the show before the final stage, not to lose focus but to apply the knowledge and experience gained during their time in the house to pursue their dreams.
He also commended the management of Film Crib Africa for creating the platform and prayed for the organisers to receive greater capacity to improve future editions.
Promise Igwe Enyindah, popularly known as Kanani, emerged as the second runner-up and received consolation prizes.
Kanani described his emergence among the top contestants as a significant achievement, considering that the competition began with 46 participants.
He said one of the major lessons he gained during the programme was tolerance and the importance of living harmoniously with people from different backgrounds and personalities.
Kanani added that he would channel more effort into developing his acting career following the competition.
Meanwhile, Ndukwe Ikechukwu was named the most outstanding contestant and received cash prizes for his performance during the show.
Ikechukwu said perseverance and a strong sense of purpose helped him remain committed throughout the competition.
He explained that one of the tasks that contributed to his recognition involved marketing a product and ensuring its successful sale, which he completed using his sales and marketing abilities.
He also won the OKF Energy Drink Award during the competition and finished in fourth position overall.
The maiden edition of Film Crib Africa Reality Television Show began with 46 contestants, who lived together in the house for 26 days and participated in a series of tasks and activities aimed at developing their creative, professional and interpersonal skills.
The organisers said the programme was created to build stars and develop powerful stories by discovering, nurturing and promoting the next generation of African actors, filmmakers and storytellers.
All 10 finalists are expected to feature in a movie production scheduled to begin this month, providing them with an opportunity to translate the skills and exposure gained during the competition into practical industry experience.
The organisers added that the reality show would continue to serve as a platform for identifying emerging creative talents and equipping them with the knowledge, discipline and exposure needed to contribute to Africa’s growing film and entertainment industry.
