Colombia have booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, edging out Poland 1-0 in their Round of 16 tie to set up a testing clash with Nigeria’s Falconets on Sunday.
The South Americans will have taken careful note of how Nigeria dispatched England 3-0 at the Bielsko-Biala Stadium in Poland, a scoreline that lays bare the scale of the task awaiting them in Łódź.
Nigeria made a bright start against England, taking the lead inside eight minutes through Tosin Rafiu — an early blow that set the tone for the rest of the contest. England pushed for a way back into the game and were handed a golden opportunity from the penalty spot in the first half, but goalkeeper Christiana Uzoma produced a crucial save to keep the Falconets’ advantage intact heading into the break.
Nigeria came out of the dressing room with the same intensity, doubling their lead just two minutes into the second half through Seimeyeha Janet Akekoromowei. With England now chasing the game, the Falconets continued to press and were rewarded again in the 73rd minute when Mary Mamudu completed the rout, sealing a comfortable and dominant 3-0 win.
