The federal government has unveiled a one-year National Health Fellows Programme as part of its commitment to drive meaningful change and innovation in the health sector.

Alaba Balogun, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, explained in a statement on Wednesday that the programme is being championed through the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative SWAp Coordination Office under the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

He stated that the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, has encouraged interested Nigerian professionals from diverse fields to apply and participate in the programme.

The programme will bring together a cohort of emerging professionals from various disciplines, including health and health-related fields, information technology, and social sciences.

The fellows, he further elaborated, will form a cadre of highly skilled and motivated health leaders capable of driving meaningful change and innovation in the health sector.

“To this end, interested Nigerian professionals are requested to apply for the Fellowship Programme and join the renewed pathway to leadership development for the Nigerian health sector. The deadline for submission of applications is 27 January 2025,” he added.
