The Federal Government, in partnership with the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), has developed a digitalised learning platform to enable a more inclusive educational system in Nigeria.

The Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Mamman, represented by the Deputy Director, ICT in the ministry, Mr. Gbenga Oderemi, made this known at a stakeholders workshop on digital learning platform accessibility and inclusion in Abuja, yesterday.

He stated that technological advancement had extended the frontiers of educational delivery.

“The ministry has been collaborating with the private sector on the establishment of digital classrooms across the country and is committed to achieving technology integration in education.

“Three e-learning portals are currently available on the Ministry’s website. The portals provide online teaching and learning resources for students and teachers.

“The ministry has also collaborated with Partnership for Learning for All in Nigeria (PLANE) to develop a reference repository of e-learning resources.”

On his part, Ian Attfield, senior education adviser, British High Commission, said the innovations would break the barriers of students lacking access to quality education.

He urged stakeholders to factor in inclusion, especially for those in rural communities without access to modern technology, to benefit from learning resources.
