In line with global trend of rail modernisation designed to move people enmass, Special Adviser to President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Transport and Logistics, Mr. Segun Obayendo has said that discussions between Federal government and a Japanese firm has reached advanced stage for the latter to introduce supersonic speed train from Lagos to Abuja.
He however said that the proposed speed train will come to fruition during second tenure of the President.
Obayendo made these disclosures recently at the launching of “Lagos Automobile Club” held at Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry Conference and Exhibition Center.

According to him, Nigeria cannot continue to lag behind when other countries are already busy introducing latest innovations like speed trains that can help move people enmass, from point A to B at a minimal cost and faster speed.
The special adviser stated further that despite shift in emphasis to transiting people enmass by rail motoring enthusiasts rely on road mode to transit to their homes.
He therefore harped on the need to imbibe and promote safe driving culture in order to enhance safety of lives and properties.
President of the club Mr. Victor Erhabor, said that the objectives of establishing the club range from creating awareness on safe driving culture to seeking assistance whenever there is breakdown of vehicles belonging to members and socializing.
He stated that some benefits of membership earlier highlighted would be provided through support of collaborators like Federal Road Safety Corps, Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, Lagos Computerized Vehicle Inspection Center, Lagos State Ministry of Transportation to mention but a few.
