FG set to implement 95% salary increase for railway workers this year

Staff of Nigerian Railway Corporation will before end of this year start to enjoy the approved 95% increase in salary by the Federal government.

Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation, Dr. Kayode Opeifa who dropped this hint during a meeting with management team of Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) held recently in Abuja said that management will commence implementation of the increase before end of this year.

According to him, staff welfare and safety of passengers remains a priority of management.of the corporation warning that locomotive engine drivers should desist from issuing strike notices to management as this is capable of disrupting national service.

Chairman of Nigerian Union of Railway Workers (NUR), Comrade Kazeem, appreciated the management for approving weekend incentives for AKTS personnel who work on weekends.

The MD was accompanied by Directors of Corporate Planning, James Zang, Mechanical/Signal & Communications Engr. Engr. Jerry Oche amongst others.
