A film Director and National coordinator of Nollywood Iconic and Personalities Award, Mr. Valentine Nwauzo, said President Muhammadu Buhari has not taken practical step to ease the travial of filmmakers in the country.
He noted that the Film Industry has been neglected since the present government came into power.
Mr. Nwauzo disclosed this, on Thursday, during a press briefing in Jos on the forth coming Nollywood Iconic and Personalities Award, schedule for Friday 5, May 2017 in Nasarawa State.
“The Federal Government under the present administration has not done much to encourage Nigerian Film Industry, despite our fight against unemployment. We have made effort to partner with government in projecting huge tourism potentials in the country but we have not gotten the desire result.”
He said over 150,000 indigent youths have officially gain employment in the Film Industry, and noted that those youths were constituting security threats in the country.
Mr. Nwauzo applauded Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State and Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State, among others for their support to film makers in the country.
He noted that the Nollywood Iconic and Personalities Award will spur the awardees to do more selfless service for humanity and to be more patriotic in their areas of calling.
He added that the Personalities Award would be confer on the Plateau state Governor, Simon Lalong, Nasarawa sate Governor, Tanko Almakura, and Sokoto state Governor, Hon. Aminu Tambawul among others for their contribution in the Film Industry.
Mr. Nwauzo added that Nollywood Iconic Award would be confer on Peter Edochie, Zack Orji, Sani Muazu, Sadiq Daba and others 14 others.
