The outstanding sections of Iseyin-Okeho road including two bridges in Oyo State will require a whooping sum of N4 billion to be fully rehabilitated.
Minister of Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola who disclosed this during the inspection of the road, promised the local contractor handling the facility, Messrs HMF Construction Limited, that when 2023 budget and 2022 Sukuk are being considered, government would be able to accommodate the fund needed by the contractor to complete the remaining part of the works on the road.
The minister charged Messrs Kopek Construction Company, the contractor on the reconstruction of Ibadan-Ife-Ilesha dual carriageway in Oyo/Osun states not to stop work but to make some sections of the road motorable during the ‘ember’ months.
While inspecting the dualisation of Oyo-Ogbomosho Road, he promised that relief would soon come the way of the road-users.
“Although the rainy season has slowed down construction on the project, the earthworks will improve as soon as the rains subside,” he said, adding that the dualisation of the road was being funded through Sukuk and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Tax Credit Scheme for roads.
