NSSEC executes projects in 6 states

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its determination to ensure quality senior secondary education in the country through various strategic policies aimed at boosting the nation’s education sector.
The Executive Secretary, National Senior Secondary Education Commission (NSSEC), Dr Iyela Ajayi, disclosed this on Tuesday while inspecting the ongoing projects being executed by the commission at the Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, Ondo State.
Iyela who had earlier paid an advocacy visit to the state commissioner for Education, Prof. Igbekele Ajibefun hinted that the federal government under the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is determined to embark on intervention projects across the country.
Already, he disclosed that six secondary schools selected in each of the six geopolitical zones have been chosen for the intervention projects, saying that when the projects are completed learning and teaching would be made easier for secondary school students and teachers respectively.
Part of the projects being executed by the commission across the country include e-learning library, classroom buildings, academic halls among others.

Dr Iyela who disclosed that the Federal Government is determined to promote quality education in all the secondary schools in the country, hinted that the commission is already coordinating interventions in infrastructure, teacher development and curriculum delivery in secondary schools in line with its mandates.
Also, Iyela assured that the commission will promote Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and promote Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Design and Mathematics entrepreneurial skills.
Besides, he affirmed the readiness of the NSSEC to support capacity building for teachers and school managers, just as he expressed the commission’s readiness to collaborate with state governments to conduct personnel audits of teaching and non-teaching staff in senior secondary schools.
Commenting on the level of work done at the project site, Iyela commended the contractor handling the project and the Principal of the school where the projects are sited, Mr Adeniyi Oluyide for doing proper supervisory work.
He disclosed that the projects will be completed by December and will be commissioned by President Tinubu.
