Super Eagles centre-back Emmanuel Fernandez has expressed confidence in the team’s readiness ahead of their upcoming clash against Portugal, following Wednesday night’s 2-2 draw with Poland.

Fernandez played the first 45 minutes of the encounter before being replaced at the start of the second half by Semi Ajayi.
Speaking to reporters in the mixed zone, the defender admitted disappointment over the goals conceded but insisted there were positives in the team’s overall performance to build on ahead of their next assignment.
“I think we have done well in moments, obviously we conceded is not something we want to happen,” Fernandez said after the match.
“But as a team and collective, we have done well and we created chances to win the game.”
Looking ahead, the Rangers defender expressed confidence in the squad’s readiness for their upcoming international friendly against Portugal, stressing unity and determination within the camp.
“Everyone is fit and ready to take on Portugal next week. I think we are going to go there with the same fire we came today (Wednesday) and go there for a win,” he assured.
The Super Eagles are set to continue their training camp as they sharpen tactics ahead of the high-profile encounter.
Meanwhile, head coach Eric Chelle will be aiming for a positive outcome when Nigeria take on Portugal next week.
