Femi Azeez

Femi Azeez who recently joined English Premier League side Brighton from Championship side Millwall is in a race to be fit for the AFCON qualifiers later this month, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports.

Azeez who is on the list of players called up by head coach of the senior national team of Nigeria Eric Chelle for the games against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau respectively is nursing a muscle injury.

“Femi is obviously carrying a slight injury at the moment,” said Hurzeler ahead of the draw against Leeds United. “With Femi, we have to wait this weekend, and hopefully he will be available for the next game [Coventry].”

He went on to eulogies the qualities of the 25 year old who made his international debut for Nigeria in the summer during the Unity Cup, where he scored twice and had an assist to help Nigeria retain the title.

Hurzeler added: “Femi’s a winger, he can score with the right and with the left foot. He has really good decision-making in the final third. He’s a hard worker. I’m really pleased with the transfer window”.
