Fedpoly Nekede lecturer Uche Nwogu honoured with intellectual distinction Award

The Students Representative Council (SRC) of the Students Union Government (SUG), Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, has honoured a distinguished scholar and researcher, Dr. Uchenna Obioma Nwogu, with its prestigious Intellectual Distinction and Students Mentorship Award.

The award was presented during the Council’s Legislative Day Celebration for the 2024/2025 Academic Session, in recognition of Dr. Nwogu’s immense support to the Students Representative Council and his contribution to academic excellence.

Nwogu is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical/Electronic Engineering, School of Engineering Technology, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, where he has served since June 2012. He is a renowned Wireless Communication Researcher and Architect with extensive experience in Internet of Things (IoT), wireless communication protocols and algorithms.

He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering from the Department of Electronics and Communications Engineering, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (2023), where his thesis focused on Advancing IoT Networks Proficiency. He also holds an M.Eng. in Communications Engineering with Distinction from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (2017), and a B.Eng. in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Second Class Upper) from the same institution (2001).

In addition to his teaching and research, Dr. Nwogu has developed cutting-edge solutions to mitigate inefficiency in medium resource utilization for wireless network protocols intended for IoT networks using optimisation algorithms. He is a published researcher with a Scopus profile and ORCID identification.

Presenting the award, the Senate President/Speaker of the SRC/SUG, Isaac Francis-Abasi, described Dr. Nwogu as a true mentor and an inspiration to students, whose dedication to teaching and practical technological advancement continues to shape the next generation of engineers.

Nwogu thanked the Students Union Government for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting students and promoting academic excellence.
