Federal Unity Colleges to resume Monday — FG

Parents assured of safety

The Federal Government has assured parents and guardians that all Federal Unity Colleges (FUCs) nationwide will resume academic activities on Monday, September 14, 2026, as scheduled.

The Federal Ministry of Education, in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, said necessary arrangements had been put in place to ensure a safe, smooth and seamless commencement of the new academic session.

Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, gave the assurance, saying the safety and wellbeing of students and staff remained central to the Federal Government’s commitment to providing a secure and conducive environment for teaching and learning.

Alausa disclosed that relevant security agencies had been duly informed of the resumption arrangements and were maintaining heightened vigilance around the Federal Unity Colleges and their immediate environments.

He said the coordinated security measures were aimed at safeguarding students, staff and school communities as academic activities resume across the country.

The minister consequently urged parents and guardians to remain calm, rely on official information and proceed with preparations for their children and wards to return to their respective colleges on Monday.

He also directed school authorities to maintain close coordination with security agencies and other relevant authorities to facilitate an orderly and secure resumption.

Alausa called on students, parents, teachers, school administrators and other stakeholders to work together to maintain a peaceful, supportive and secure school environment.

He stressed that the safety and wellbeing of learners remained a shared responsibility.

The ministry said it would continue to monitor developments and take all necessary measures, in collaboration with relevant authorities, to ensure the smooth and safe resumption of academic activities in all Federal Unity Colleges nationwide.

It reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s education system and ensuring that Nigerian children have access to quality education in a safe and conducive learning environment.

According to the ministry, the commitment is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which recognises education and human capital development as essential to Nigeria’s sustainable growth and national development.
