Youths under the aegis of Afemai Unity Forum, have expressed concerns over what they described as subtle marginalisation of three local government areas of the senatorial district by former Edo state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, over federal appointments.
The youths in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday, described Oshiomhole’s action as nepotic and bad omen to the development of the senatorial district.
The statement signed by its leaders, Oje Ohis and Abayomi Justice, warned that Oshiomhole’s preference for the Estako tribe for federal appointments will further divide the Afemai region.
“The unflinching loyalty, investment and contribution to the emergence of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration in the last general election by the people of Edo North ought to be rewarded with equal distribution of federal appointments.
“Unfortunately, Oshiomhole has been engaging in subtle marginalisation of three Local Government Areas (Akoko-Edo, Owan East and Owan West) in federal appointments, choosing to favour his kinsmen(Estako). Going with information from the grapevine, Oshiomhole has penciled names of his kinsmen for appointment into federal boards.
“This action is nepotic and a bad omen to the development of the district, which will further result to division in Edo North. Appointments into federal boards must be spread across the six LGAs in Edo North for the peace and progress of the district,” the statement read.
