FEC mourns death of former Education Minister Gbagi

The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, expressed the Federal Executive Council’s (FEC) condolences on the death of former Minister of State for Education, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi.

According to the statement from the Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, the SGF eulogized Gbagi as an “irreproachable statesman with high moral rectitude.”

Gbagi, 62 served as Minister of State for Education during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, where he made significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s basic and secondary education sectors, including the Almajiri Education Programme.

Gbagi had previously served as the Chairman of the Delta Development and Property Authority (DDPA), leaving over ₦800 million in the organization’s coffers.

The SGF urged Nigerians to emulate Gbagi’s virtues and support the anti-corruption efforts of President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Akume described the late Gbagi as a “quintessential politician, a criminologist extraordinaire and a great industrialist,” whose contributions to Nigeria’s politics, education, security, and economy will have a lasting impact

The statement concluded with the SGF’s condolences to the government and people of Delta State, as well as Gbagi’s immediate family, and a prayer for the departed’s soul to rest in peace.
