Fear has gripped residents of Talba Housing Estate in Minna, Niger State, following the discovery of the decomposed body of a 45 year-old Quranic teacher, Mallam Awwal Yakubu, in an uncompleted building within the estate.

The incident occurred on Sunday when some children said to be searching for a missing fowl discovered the body and immediately raised the alarm.

The late Awwal, father of seven, who until his death, operated a Quranic school in Barkin Saleh, a suburb of Minna, was reported missing on Thursday, December 4, by his family.

A source close to the estate said a group of boys within the estate were searching for a missing fowl when they stumbled on the decomposing body inside the uncompleted building.

“They found a pack of matches and a bottle of tiger nut drink beside him. His clothes were on one side and his shoes on the other side.”

Nobody, including his immediate family, was ready to comment further on the incident when our Correspondent visited the residence.

However, the state Police Command confirmed the incident through a statement by its spokesman, SP Wasiu Abiodun, yesterday.
