Major highways in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) were deserted following the blockade of roads by both the police and the soldiers.

Along Nyanya-FCT Expressway, there was a serious gridlock because soldiers blocked the road. Motorists entering Abuja and leaving the city were disallowed to have their way. This caused a serious gridlock along the corridor.

Similarly, police blocked Apo-Nyanya axis of the town and some travellers were found stranded, a situation that may cause them to stay on a spot till the end of voting by 4pm.

However, in Karu a woman was arrested for sharing money openly but the identity of the woman was shielded from newsmen.

At Nyanya, only a few voters were noticed. As at 1:30 pm, a voters were seen trickling in.

At the end of monitoring, the commandant, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr Olusola Odumosu, expressed satisfaction for the polls but warned miscreants or those who plan to disrupt the exercise to be careful because the officers on ground will be brutal at them.

He gave the whole exercise a pass mark saying that so far there has not been any untoward report or crisis. Although, he emphasised, if anybody plans to disrupt the exercise, the officers are capable of subduing him.
