The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) elections, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has been declared the winner of the 2026 election for a second term.
In the results announced early in the morning at the Karu INEC office for the AMAC collation, the APC polled a total of 40,298 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) came second with a total of 12,109 votes. The Social Democratic Party (SDP) came a distant third with 2,185 votes.
Reacting to the victory of the APC in one of Nigeria’s richest local governments, Engr Ibrahim D. Umar, the Campaign Director-General to Maikalangu 2026, stated that “God chooses whom He wills to be a leader, and no one can change his divine decision.”
Umar also dedicated the victory to the good and loving people of Wuse Ward and the entire people of AMAC for their unwavering support, prayers, and commitment.
