The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Joshua Ishaku of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the Bwari Area Council chairmanship election in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Ishaku secured the highest number of votes in the keenly contested Area Council polls held as part of the broader FCT elections on Saturday.

The FCT elections, which saw voters elect chairmen across six Area Councils, have also returned winners in other councils including Gwagwalada where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate was declared winner earlier in the day.

Overall, the FCT polls have proceeded with the collation of results in various wards and councils across the territory, marking a key phase in the local democratic process.
