People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential hopeful Gbenga Hashim has secured an overwhelming victory for the party in his polling unit in Saturday’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council poll.
Official results from Hashim’s Polling Unit 076 in Big Cele Settlement, Dutse Alhaji, in Bwari Area Council, showed that the PDP defeated both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the area by a very wide margin.
In the chairmanship contest, the PDP secured 74 votes, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 2 votes and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) garnered 3 votes.

Also, the PDP secured 75 votes to defeat the APC and ADC, which polled four and two votes, respectively, in the councillorship election.
Hashim, while speaking shortly after the declaration of results at the polling unit, expressed appreciation to residents for their peaceful participation and support.
According to him, “this victory belongs to the people. It reflects consistent engagement, listening leadership, and our shared commitment to progress at the grassroots.”
The opposition party’s victory, stakeholders say, is a reflection of the PDP’s grassroots presence in parts of the FCT and may serve as a morale boost ahead of future electoral contests, including the 2027 general elections.
