The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has confirmed a tragic motor vehicle accident resulting in four deaths on Wednesday, September 3, along Nnamdi Azikiwe Expressway near Mabushi Underbridge.

According to the police, a grey Toyota Highlander (registration ABJ 206 EC), driven by Emeka Ehekweme, accompanied by his wife, was accosted by three unknown assailants near Berger Junction, Utako. “The suspects forcefully entered the vehicle, leading to a struggle for control of the steering,” explained Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh.

During the fracas, the driver lost control of the vehicle, which collided with a parked Mazda and subsequently somersaulted into a bridge pillar. Emergency responders confirmed the deaths of the driver, his wife, and two of the attackers upon arrival at the National Hospital. The third suspect is receiving medical treatment, while the Mazda driver, Suleman Mohammed, escaped serious injury.

The FCT Police Command is conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. “The Command commiserates with the families of the deceased and assures the public of a thorough investigation to ascertain the facts of the matter,” SP Adeh added.
