The Maitiama Ultra Modern Market, in Kubwa, Bwari Area Council was a beehive of activities, as traders opened for business, despite the ongoing Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) Area Council poll.
This is as several residents of Usuma, Byzain and Kubwa wards in the area council stayed away from the polling centres.
When The Sun visited the market, which is popularly known as Kubwa General Market, at about 10 am Saturday morning, it was observed that while the major entrance into market was shut, traders have taken over the road in front of the market, where they displayed their wares.
Nonetheless, shops were closed, with many of the shop owners sitting in front of the shops. Similarly, business owners, especially artisans, around the area were also opened for operation
Also, at Chakokore Junction, in Byzain Ward, some business owners in the area, opened for business, while youths converted a section of the road, shortly after Dantata Estate to a football pitch.
