The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed N20 million for a chairmanship aspirant wishing to purchase its expression of interest and nomination forms for the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council election.
The timetable and schedule of activities for the FCT Area Council election released by the national leadership of the party, signed by the National Organising Secretary, Sulaiman Muhammed Argungu, revealed that the aspirants for the councilorship position will cough out the sum of N2.5 million for the nomination forms.
While giving further breakdown, the ruling party explained that while chairmanship aspirants will pay N5 million for the expression of interest form, they will spend N15 million for the nomination form, totaling N20 million.
Similarly, the party’s national leadership also revealed that the Councilorship aspirants will pay N500,000 for the expression of interest form and N2 million for the nomination form, totaling N2.5 million.
It equally disclosed that the sale of the nomination forms will hold between Thursday, May 22 and Wednesday, May 28, adding that next week, Thursday, May 29 will be the deadline for the submission of the completed nomination forms.
The statement, particularly on the update of membership registration, read; “I compliance with Article 9.3 (Rights and Privileges) of our great party’s Constitution, only fully registered and financially up-to-date members of the party shall have the right to vote and be voted for into any elective position, subject to the provisions made for such elections under this Constitution or other laws or regulations.”
“Consequently, non-financial members shall not enjoy the above rights. Last day for submission of completed nomination forms, expression of interest forms, delegate forms and accompanying documents,” it read
APC further announced that; “The screening of aspirants, publication of screening results, screening appeal, delegate Congress, delegate Congress Appeal, Primary Election, and Primary election Appeal will hold between Monday, June 16, to Friday, June 27 this year.”
On the waivers, the ruling party noted: “Female aspirants and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) aspirants are to purchase the expression of interest form while the nomination form is free.
“Youths between the ages of 25 to 40 are to purchase the expression of interest form with 50 per cent discount on the nomination forms. Expression of interest form and nomination form will be available for purchase at the party’s national secretariat,” it noted.
