The Chairman, Governing Council of Federal College of Education Technical (FCET), Akoka, Dr. Adeniyi Olatunde Adenuga yesterday inaugurated two panels to investigate the students crisis and the administration of former Provost, Dr. Ademola Azeez.
The council had last week constituted two different panel/committee to look into the violent students protest and allegations against the removed provost.
Ahead of the inauguration, the council asked individual staff, students and unions as well as the resident community to submit memoranda.
The special investigation panel and special committee to investigate allegations against the removed provost were inaugurated at the Academic Board Room by the council chairman.
The inauguration was witnessed by the Deans, Directors, union chairmen and Secretaries and some stakeholders.
A statement by FCET Akoka Registrar and Secretary to the council, Mr. Rasheed Dada, said the mandate of the committee for students includes identify the remote and immediate cause of the students unrest, identify ringleaders of the crisis and supporters from within and outside the college, victims of the violence, consider students complaints and any memoranda submitted.
For the panel against the removed provost and other staff, they are to compile a comprehensive finding and make appropriate recommendations to the governing council to avoid reoccurrence of the incident.
The special investigative panel has the representatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Attorney General of Lagos State, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Nigerian Institute of Quality Surveyors, Minister of Education and Chairman, Oluwole Residents Association.
