The Provost of the Federal College of Education (FCE) Obudu, Dr Richard Otubaku, has announced that the institution will transition to a degree-awarding institution by September 2025.

He revealed this during the 42nd matriculation ceremony and the unveiling of the college’s dual mandate system in Obudu, Cross River State.

Otubaku stated, “The college will officially transition into a full-fledged degree-awarding institution from September 2025. This marks a new era under the dual mandate system, allowing the college to offer both NCE and degree programmes concurrently.”

In his address, themed “A New Era of NCE and Full Degree Awarding Status”, he urged freshers to avoid vices that hinder academic excellence and to utilise the Students’ Loan Scheme.

The college admitted 875 students, with 310 pursuing degree programmes currently affiliated with the University of Calabar (UNICAL) and 565 enrolled in the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).
