The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has reinforced its collaboration with the Federal Character Commission (FCC) through a digital skills training programme for staff of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) under the Commission’s supervision.

Led by the Director-General, Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, the initiative followed a courtesy visit to the newly appointed FCC Executive Chairman, Hulayat Motunrayo Omidiran.

He said that the arrangement was geared towards strengthening the partnership aimed at accelerating digital transformation and improving public sector efficiency.

The statement by Ademola Lawrence, FCC spokesperson, noted that the three-day workshop, held in Abuja, brought together 35 participants from key departments, including Human Resources, Planning and Strategy, Monitoring and Enforcement and the Management Information System (MIS) unit.

Speaking during the courtesy visit, Omidiran praised NITDA’s support, noting, “We sincerely appreciate the Director-General of NITDA for this collaboration. This digital skills training is vital for repositioning the Commission and over 700 MDAs under our supervision for greater efficiency, transparency and accountability.”

Speaking on the importance of the programme, a participant and the Director of Monitoring and Enforcement, Garba Umar Wudil, said: “Federal Character Commission is a data-driven organisation. The training has equipped us to manipulate and utilise data effectively and use Artificial Intelligence to manage our operations. The NITDA has been a great partner, providing both training and gadgets to enable us to apply what we have learnt.”

At the conclusion of the workshop, 35 laptops were presented to participants to support practical learning. Both agencies pledged to continue collaboration, using digital tools to enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in public service.
