A governorship aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, yesterday, disclosed that farmers in the state have testified to their achievements during the tenure of President Bola Tinubu.

He said the farmers lamented bad roads to their farms and demanded government intervention.

Babayemi who spoke to our correspondent at the ward of APC state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, at Okerewe ward II, Ife East, Ile-Ife, which marked the 100th ward of his ward-to-ward tour, explained that responses from people showed that farmers, particularly cocoa farmers, are enjoying Tinubu’s administration.

“This ward tour to the Okerewe Ward 2, Ile-Ife, the ward of our state APC chairman,Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, marked the100 wards we have visited out of the 332 wards across Osun. The reception has been varied. Some people actually told us that they want Mr President to know that they are feeling the impact of his policies on the economy”

“Some of the farmers in Osun, especially the cocoa farmers, said they President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies have been beneficial to them. They asked for good roads to make room for food abundance. There’s still a lot to do, but the party to do it is APC, not just at the federal level; we have to cascade that vision down from the federal level to the state, to the local government and then to the wards, the grassroots. That is the reason for doing what we are doing. The reception has been exceptional, people are now reconnecting back to the vision of Mr President,” Babayemi said.

Noting that 12 aspirants have showed interest in the 2026 governorship election under the APC, Babayemi urged party members to support whoever emerges as the candidate of the party.

“I am here on behalf of the twelve aspirants of the APC. We are one. Our intention is to ensure that our party wins the 2026 governorship election in Osun. Our leaders will decide on who to represent the party and all of us will support whoever they pick.

“In Osun, there’s no race, we are one big family. In our party,APC, the party is a party of progress, a party of structure. There are 12 of us who have come out, and every single ward that I’ve gone to, I’ve informed our party members.

“We are not campaigning. All I’m doing is attending ward meetings that are of our party members and what we are doing is, we’re informing them that we stand as one, we are united in being able to take the benefits of the policies; economic and socioeconomic policies, take it down from the federal level.

“The 12 of us that we are aspiring and we know that coming out of our primaries, will be a candidate, that will be able to translate the advantages of the Renewed Hope Agenda to the people of Osun at the grassroots,” Babayemi said.

A member of the team, Hon. Adelani Ajanaku, lamented bad roads in some communities, saying that the ward-to-ward tour has exposed lack of development at the grassroots.
