The family of Michael Ikechukwu Uti has sent a save-our-souls to the Inspector-General of Police and heads of all security agencies to save them and their son from the hands of some unknown men believed by them to be killers looking for him.
The family members are worried that some men believed to be Muslim fundamentalists or herdsmen are hunting for their son, Michael Ikechukwu Uti.
Spokesman for the family, Kizito Okeleke, cried out that yet-to- be-identified men, suspected to be assassins, have resumed their threat to their son and even to them.
Okeleke, who cried for help during a press briefing, said that he would want the IGP to wade into the issue, fish out the evil men and bring them to book, as their lives are not safe.
Okeleke said, “I am raising this alarm because our son, Michael Ikechukwu Uti, is no longer staying with us, yet those hunting for him have resumed again.
“We have been facing this challenge of people coming to our house hunting for our son since he was accused of leading some protesters to burn down some tents and a mosque that belonged to Fulani herdsmen in Isele Azagba and Ugboolu in Delta State, in 2019. He narrowly escaped death from the hands of the herdsmen, who vowed that he must pay with his life for not only displacing them but burning down their mosque because he is a Christian.
“As he was being hunted by the Muslim fundamentalist, he escaped to Lagos, but we were surprised that they traced him to Lagos.

“We discovered that they had his photographs, with informants all over the country, because, immediately after the #EndSARS protest in 2020, he was being hunted by their agents in the security agencies, who were looking for our son among other protesters at Lekki Toll Gate. The protest was against the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS). Our son and others were declared wanted by the government security agencies, but these Muslim fundamentalists started threatening our son, Michael Ikechukwu Uti, with text messages, mocking him that he thought he would run from the deed he committed in the East.
“We were shocked how the Islamic fundamentalist were able to know that he was in Lagos.
“I am his senior cousin. We advised him to leave the country because Fulani herdsmen, who are Muslim fundamentalists, are well connected and deadly.
“Why we are raising concern now is that they have traced our house in Lagos, because a group of men, dressed like herdsmen, have started coming to our house and asking little children questions about the whereabouts of Michael Ikechukwu Uti. The children keep telling me that some men used to come after everyone in the house had gone to work or businesses, making enquiries about Michael Ikechukwu Uti.
The kids have told them that Uncle Mike, as he is fondly called, is no longer staying here, but they wouldn’t listen. One of my neighbours, who understands Fulfude language, said he overheard one of the men saying ‘he thought he would run forever after displacing them and burning down their mosque’. The man was telling his group that Uti must pay with his blood. He said that all Christians who dared must die.
“Why I am raising the alarm now is that my life and my immediate family are not safe. I was told that they have taken photographs of my house. I am surprised that after many
years that Michael Ikechukwu Uti has fled the country, these killer Muslim fundamentalists are still hunting for him. I don’t have the money to pay for police protection for my family. That is why I am calling on the IGP and well-meaning Nigerians to come to my family’s rescue. “Herdsmen have been killing our brothers and sisters in our community in Isele Azagba, Ugboolu and other nearby communities, yet no one has been held accountable. That was why our brother and others fled home. Yet they are still hunting for them anywhere they run to. But I am seriously worried that our brother, Michael Ikechukwu Uti, and others who fled the country may not be able to return home because these herdsmen and Islamic fundamentalists don’t forget and don’t forgive. I am begging the IGP to fish out these people that are after my family, because they may decide to avenge what Michael Ikechukwu Uti and his colleagues did on my immediate family.”
