Family of 12-year-old Unishemi Divine Eseoghene,have sent a save-old-souls to Assistant Inspectpr General of Police (AIG) Zone 5 Commad, Benin, Edo State, to investigate her abduction recently.
The call for investigation became necessary as her father, the bread winner working with Vitafoam Nigeria Plc. and Guinness Nigeria Plc.has had series of attacks, and was shot on two different occasions, while travelling, by gunmen ,but through devine interventions, he escaped without gun shot injuries.
Her mother Mrs Unishemi Onyinyechi Lilian in a petition to the AIG , stated that,on May 24, 2025, at approximately 11 am, Unishemi Divine Eseoghene, who resides at 16 Ekhaguere street, off central Road, off Airport Road, Benin city, was sent on an errand.
‘ I had left the house for my business, hoping that my daughter would return home after the message. On getting back home at 4pm, my daughter was nowhere to be found. In my frustration, I began to call my neighbours ,but no one could give account of my daughter’s whereabout.
“ As I was preparing to go to the Police Station, my daughter returned in company with a woman, who stated that she saw my daughter being pushed down from a car and immediately they pushed her out of the car, the driver of the car zoomed off. The lady narrated further that she interviewed my daughter, though she was very weak ,but she was able to narrate what happened to her and also provided her address. The lady stated further that she was traveling out of the country, therefore, did not have the time to go to the police. She basically helped to bring Divine to the house.
“ This incident has made me frightened and traumatised as I have been living in fear.
Divine told me that she was told by the two men who abducted her that they were going to take her to Delta State to join her mates . They asked her about her father, if he was a big man (wealthy) and she replied that her father is a “Pastor”. At that point, they now started saying, let’s drop this stupid girl as their papa may not accept her. They eventually pushed her out of the car and speed off.
“I sincerely implore the AIG to use his good office to cause investigation to this case as the days are evil. My family members are suspecting that the kidnapping was targeted at their father, my husband , but since he could not be found because he is studying in the USA ; they targeted his second daughter. And that the perceived wealth due to recent vacation of the whole family in Canada has subjected the family to attack. My family is scared because of current insecurity and Christian persecution have aggravated the whole situation.”
