The Oga-Oloye Descendants Family of Igbogbo in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has petitioned Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Commissioner of Police and the Lagos State Task Force on Land Grabbers over the alleged encroachment on its landed property by an Ikorodu-based lawyer and other individuals.
The family also submitted a Save Our Souls (SOS) petition to the governor and IGP urging their immediate intervention to avert a breakdown of law and order in the community.
In a petition signed by the family’s solicitor, A.O. Orewale, the family called on the authorities to investigate the allegations, halt any further encroachment on the disputed property pending the conclusion of investigations, and prosecute anyone found to have violated the law.
The family disclosed that two individuals, Tijani and Anifowose, have been arrested by security operatives in connection with the dispute, adding that investigations are ongoing.
The petition stated that the “Oga-Oloye Descendants Family is the customary owner of about 11.92 hectares (29.919 acres) of land located at Ewu-Oga, Bayeku Road, Igbogbo, Ikorodu, which it claimed has belonged to the family under native law and custom from time immemorial.
It explained that the state government acquired the land in 1985 for public purposes before subsequently leasing it to Tolaram Clay Bricks Nigeria Limited, formerly known as Tolaram Ceramics Nigeria Limited.

The family said it challenged the acquisition at the High Court of Lagos State after alleging that it was not compensated for the acquisition.
According to the petition, the matter, marked Suit No. IKD/12842LMW/2022, was eventually resolved through Terms of Settlement dated November 25, 2025. Under the agreement, the family was to receive four acres of land and N37.85 million as full and final settlement of its claims.
While acknowledging that the four acres of land had been released, the family alleged that the agreed monetary compensation had yet to be paid.
The petition further stated that after the settlement, the family entered into a revised professional fee arrangement with the lawyer who handled the litigation.
It alleged that disagreements subsequently arose over the implementation of the fee agreement, leading to the current dispute over portions of the land recovered under the settlement.
The family urged the police and other relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the matter, invite all persons connected with the dispute for questioning, prevent further encroachment or transactions involving the land pending the outcome of investigations, and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought to justice in accordance with the law.
