The FAME Foundation is celebrating the extraordinary achievements of Folashade Oluwafemiayo, who made history at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.

Oluwafemiayo, who is an ambassador for the foundation, shattered her own world record in the women’s over 86kg para powerlifting category with a remarkable lift of 167kg, earning her a gold medal and becoming the first para-athlete to reach this milestone.

In a statement, it noted that Oluwafemiayo’s journey has been closely linked with FAME Foundation, having participated in the Para Powerlifting Games in Lagos last year, which honoured the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The foundation’s capacity-building programme played a crucial role in her preparation, culminating in this historic success.

In addition, FAME Foundation congratulated Bose Omolayo for her silver medal in the women’s up to 79kg category, lifting 145kg,

and Esther Nworgu for securing silver in the women’s up to 41kg category.

The foundation noted that these achievements underscored the dedication and talent of these athletes, and said it looks forward to supporting their future endeavours.
