Falowo Ready For U-23 Team After Fruitful Season In Romania

After a fruitful season in Romania, United States of America born Nigeria star, Akinbola Falowo, is primed for Nigeria National U-23 team despite the team yet to get a coach.

Born of Nigeria parents, Falowo has been making waves in the Romania amateur league playing for CS Oasul 1969. Falowo, a defensive midfielder, already played 24 games for the club this season, scoring one goal with four assists.

Speaking with our correspondent, the former Barca Residence of USA’s star said he already made up his mind to play for Nigeria, the country of his parents. “I am looking forward to representing my country Nigeria,” the 19-year-old said.

“Yes, I was born in the US and eligible to play for them, but I am targeting a call up to Nigeria’s U-23 team and hopefully help the country to qualify for the next Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

“It has been a great season for me in Romania and I am looking forward to a greater challenge in the coming months. “At the moment I am happy at Oasul, but I have ambition and hopefully I can represent my country sooner than later.”

The Nigeria U-23 team, popularly called Dream Team failed to qualify for the last Olympic Games in Paris, France and will be looking forward to return to the tournament they won in 1996. The Nigeria Football Federation are yet to name a coach for the U0-23 team despite announcing the coaches for the other junior teams like the U-17 and the U-20.
