Aisha Falode, Executive Committee Member of the Nigeria Football Federation, has urged Nigerians to stand firmly behind the Super Falcons following their unexpected defeat to Malawi, insisting the loss doesn’t erase decades of excellence built by the team.
In a statement, Falode acknowledged the result was painful — more so for the players and coaching staff than anyone watching from home. She noted the squad understands the responsibility that comes with wearing Nigeria’s colours and carries that weight with pride each time they take the field.
She stressed that a single result cannot overshadow the team’s mission in Morocco. “Booking a World Cup qualification spot and chasing an unprecedented 11th AFCON title. True champions, she said, aren’t defined by whether they stumble, but by how they respond — and the Falcons’ history is full of comebacks that prove their resilience.”
Falode reminded Nigerians that the players carry the expectations of over 200 million citizens, along with the trust of the government, the football federation, sponsors, and fans nationwide. They represent more than sport, she said — they embody the country’s unity and determination.
