Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has said the controversy over the alleged non-existent Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) is further proof of what he described as the incompetence and cluelessness of the Bola Tinubu administration.
One Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew is currently facing criminal charges after parading himself as the Director-General of the PFIPC, an agency the federal government insists does not exist.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Ibe said the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s spokespersons were “in overdrive trying to explain away the monumental corruption that has become its signature character.”
He noted that the so-called “phantom” PFIPC was not in existence during the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It is a manifestation of Tinubu’s ‘tiwa tiwa’ government,” Ibe asserted.

He added, “What Buhari created in September 2019 was the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), which was chaired by renowned economist, Dr Doyin Salami.”
Ibe argued that the fact that the PFIPC allegedly “outsmarted” senior government officials including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief of Staff to the President, Ministry of Finance, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), National Assembly under Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, as well as anti-corruption and security agencies, shows a failure of leadership.
“No matter how they try to spin it, the existence of the PFIPC… is a confirmation of how incompetent and clueless President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is,” he said.
Ibe added: “They should stop wasting our time and resources looking for scapegoats. The buck stops on the table of #Emilokan. It is not only his turn to ‘grab, snatch, and run’ with power, it is also high time he shows accountability and lives up to his responsibility, according to his oath of office.”
