The Association of Eze Ndi Igbo in the Diaspora, Southern Nigeria, has elected Eze John-Greg Okey Ezebuadi as its President.
Ezebuadi’s election took place during the 29th quarterly general meeting of the association held in Lagos, on July 14, 2022 and was attended by foremost Igbo traditional leaders from across the 12 states of the South West and the South South.
Elected with Ezebuadi are Eze Donatus Okeke of Ifon Local Government Area of Ondo State as first vice president and Eze Patrick Eneh from Ojo, Lagos State as second vice president, amongst others.
The Association of Eze Ndi Igbo Nauzoije (Diaspora), Southern Nigeria, is the umbrella body of all diaspora Ezes in Southern Nigeria, with the exclusion of the states of the South East and the Igbo Speaking parts of the South South.
Ezebuadi (Ogboroagha Ndi’gbo) is currently the National Vice President, South, of the Association of Eze Ndi Igbo Nauzoje Worldwide and the Ezeudo Ndi Igbo of Iba Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
This new position is an added responsibility apparently in recognition of his more than 18 unbroken years of sterling service to the association’s national body and of his leadership acumen.
In an acceptance speech, Ezebuadi, who is the Ezeani Ugwudike of Ichida in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State, promised to unite Ndieze in the zone and to bridge the gap between Ndi Eze in the Diaspora and the traditional rulers in Igbo land.
He advised Ndieze in the Diaspora to avoid the titles of His Royal Highness and His Royal Majesty which are the exclusive preserves of traditional rulers at home and their host communities, noting that these were prohibited in Article 7C of the association’s constitution.
He also promised to work with others to promote inter-ethnic understanding and co-existence between Ndi Igbo and other Nigerians in their different places of abode.
He assured that “the potent force of the enormous population of Ndi Igbo in the Diaspora as a catalyst for the development of Igbo land would not be ignored during his reign.”
