The Eze Ndigbo Ghana, HRM Eze Chukwudi Ihenetu has commended Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state on successful completion and comisisioning of Anambra international Airport, Umueri. The maiden flight to the airport saw Airpeace and and other airlines landing and taking off at the airport.
In a statement, Eze Ihenetu described the comisisioning as a magic wand that would help unlock the economic potential of Anambra and South East in general.
On how the airport would benefit Ndigbo and other Nigerians, The royal father known for his investments home and in the Diaspora said the airport will ease the stress of moving goods to and fro south east, “As you may know, most Igbo people are bussiness men. With this airport in Igbo hinterland, goods can be lifted from any part of the world to Anambra state and from there to other parts of South East and South South..
“I hereby appealed to the federal government to immediately approve it as international Airport by allowing international airlines to operate from the airport freely.”
On the issue of insecurity in the region, Eze Ihenetu lamented that the ugly trend was gradually turning the South east to war zone. He thus appealed to governors of the five south east states to find lasting solution to the problem.
