The Eze Ndigbo Ifako Ijaiye, Eze Michael Ezekwobi( Oyioma natunba Ndigbo Gbaagburugburu) has thrown his support behind the National Assembly to create more states across the federation.
In a statement, the Eze said it would amount to justice and equity for the Southeast geopolitical zone that has remained with 5 states for decades while other regions have between 6 and seven states.

Like I once said in a national daily, where I recommended 42 states for our country, Nigeria, I said:”Southwest. South South and South East deserves 1 state each. Then North Central and North East. one state each, this will bring them at per with North West, which already had 7 states. Altogether, when added to the previous 36 states, it would give us 42 states. Under the present political arrangement,Southeast, with 5 states, produces 15 senators whereas South South and South West produce 18 senators.All this political imbalance will be corrected if the new state is signed into law.
