Excitement in Kano as FG okays N46bn reconstruction of second MAKIA’s runaway

A cross section of the Kano State society has hailed the approval of a N46 billion reconstruction and resurfacing of a second runway at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) in Kano.

Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, Festus Keyamo, had announced the approval at the  commissioning ceremony of the Aminu Dankabo Domestic Terminal a few days ago.

He had announced that about 60 percent of the contract sum had already been released while adding that the contractor had been mobilised to the site.

Speaking on the development yesterday, Director of Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Musa Ilyasu Kwankwaso, expressed appreciation over the project

He charged Northerners to always appreciate the good gestures of President Bola Tinubu, adding that the approval of the project was a clear indication of his concern for the region.

Kwankwaso held that, “I expect our people, regardless of political affiliations, to thank the President because this project is a springboard to more commercial and trading activities in the region.

“We should imbibe the culture of appreciating good when we see one. It should not always be negative.”

He added that the project would go a long way to helping the state regain its rightful position as the economic gateway of the North.

He lauded the Chairman, Aviation Governing Board, Umar Abdullahi Ganduje, Minister of Aviation, Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir Abubakar Bichi and all those who supported the approval of the project.
