There was excitement and joy among the staff and students of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria Nsukka, UNN, as the outgoing Vice-chancellor Prof. Charles Igwe on Friday inaugurated multiple projects executed by Prof. Ikechukwu Onyishi, the Dean of the Faculty.
The Projects are; 34.5 KVA Solar installations to support CBT exams and Dean’s office CCTV cameras and security lights in the Multipurpose faculty building, Expansion of the 200-seater Digital Library to 400-seater digital Library with extra 200 laptops and counting for CBT examination, and Procurement of 2 HP Proliant Server DL 380 Gen 10 Server with 256 GB RAM and 4 TB SSD alongside fiber LAN network installation and configuration.
Others are, Biometric installations for examination and lecture attendance,
48 CCTv Cameras covering the Faculty Building, University Model Pharmacy, and a robust Central Laboratory with many important pieces of Laboratory equipment.
Igwe who’s 5-year tenure will end on June 10 commended Prof Onyishi for his exemplary leadership and urged staff and students of the Faculty to make judicious use of the various inaugurated projects executed by the Dean.
“I commend you in a special way for recording this wonderful achievement as the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
“These projects no doubt will go a long way in enhancing teaching and learning in the Faculty.
“I urge staff and students to ensure the judicious use of projects,
and its maintenance so that it will last long as well as justify money invested in them,” he said.
In a remark, Onyishi (the Dean) expressed appreciation to staff and students of the Faculty for their support and cooperation since he assumed office as the Dean of the Faculty in August 2022.
He paid special appreciation to the Faculty Board for their good direction, advice, and encouragement, noting that the record achievement would not have been possible without them.
“I appreciate staff and students of the Faculty for their maximum cooperation and in a special way I will remain grateful to the Faculty Board for their good direction, encouragement, and advice that made it possible for me to record these achievements,” he said.
The Dean commended the outgoing VC whom he noted always gives special attention to issues concerning the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
“We thanked the VC who despite his tight schedules created time to inaugurate the projects in the Faculty which has once again demonstrated the volume of love and care he has for the Faculty,” he said.
