The former Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Rural and Community Development, Hon.Kolawole Babatunde, was at the weekend treated to a rousing welcome by political leaders and people of his local government after serving meritoriously as a member of the recently dissolved State Executive Council.
A solidarity rally was also held in honour of Hon Babatunde in Isua Akoko to appreciate Babatunde’s meritorious service to the state.
Babatunde, a former member of the House of Representatives was appointed a Special Adviser by former Governor Rotimi Akeredolu and he served till the State Executive Council was dissolved recently by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Speaking at the event, Babatunde expressed gratitude to the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and members of the party in Akoko South East Local Government Area for their unwavering support for him over the years.
He acknowledged the late Governor Akeredolu and Governor Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity to serve the state as a cabinet member for two consecutive terms.
Hon. Babatunde said he would remain eternally grateful to the former Governor who provided him the much-needed political platform to continue to contribute his quota to the development of the state after a successful tenure at the National Assembly.
Babatunde who highlighted the positive impacts of Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership on his career and the state’s development, said he has enjoyed a very cordial relationship with Governor Aiyedatiwa since his emergence as the deputy governorship candidate of the party in the buildup to the October 2020 governorship election.
He recalled that he felt humbled when the incumbent Governor, Hon. Aiyedatiwa, honoured him with his presence during the Idagbasoke Ceremony (Elevation to the Council of Elders) of his mother and mother-in-law in May 2024.
Furthermore, Hon.Babatunde declared his unequivocal support for Governor Aiyedatiwa, as he seeks the APC ticket for the 2024 governorship race in view of the assurance by the Governor that he would complete all ongoing projects across the state.
All the party executives and leaders at the meeting unanimously endorsed the Governor for the November 2024 primary election.
Hon. Kolawole Babatunde was accompanied by notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akoko South East Local Government on the visit including Capt. Oyepata Vincent (rtd), Leader of APC Elders Caucus in Akoko South East; Hon. Adaramola Sunday, former State Secretary of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Mr. Kayode Ajulo, a Commissioner-nominee represented by Dr. Agesin Emmanuel who is a former House of Assembly aspirant.
