Ex-Rivers Administrator Ibas summoned to Aso Rock

Tinubu and Ibas

The immediate past Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (retd.), has been summoned by President Bola Tinubu to Aso Villa.

According to reports, Ibas arrived at the presidential villa at about 5:50 pm and was closely followed by the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun.

Also accompanying Ibas was the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukayede.

Ibas’ six-month reign as the sole administrator of Rivers came to an end after he left office on September 17, 2025, following the end of the emergency rule declared by President Tinubu.

During its first plenary session after the end of the emergency rule, Rivers State House of Assembly, chaired by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, had revealed its intention to probe the state’s expenditure during Ibas’ administration.

“To explore the process of knowing what transpired during the emergency rule with regard to spending from the consolidated revenue fund for the award of contracts and other expenditure,” part of the resolutions of the House reads.

The decision to probe the state’s expenditure over the last few months under him was rejected by Ibas.
