Ex-Rep Agbo commends Gov Alia for immortalising Agbese, Murtala Muhammed

Former Member of the House of Representatives, who represented Ado, Okpokwu, Ogbadibo Federal Constituency, and Chairman, Narcotic Drugs Committee, Dr. Francis Ottah Agbo, has commended Governor Hyacinth Alia, for immortalising late Chief Dan Agbese.

Governor Alia named the Benue Printing and Publishing Corporation, Makurdi, after Agbese. The corporation is to be named Dan Agbese Printing and Publishing Corporation.

The governor dropped the on February 3, 2026 in a live broadcast in Government House, Makurdi, to mark the golden jubilee of the creation of Benue State.

While thanking the governor for honouring Agbese, Hon Agbo, who is Alia’s lead pointman in Ado LGC, said his principal’s gesture will spur more Benue people to serve their communities and society at large with passion, the way Chief Agbese did in his life time.

The governor in the live broadcast eulogized Agbese for his selfless services to humanity, which he noted, mainstreamed good governance, policy initiation, implementation and community service.

He also praised the late Agbese for using the media to advance democracy, hold government accountable to the people as well as, using the media to set agenda and advocacy in Nigeria and beyond.

Agbese died in November 2025 and will be buried on February 12, 2026, in Apa, Agila District in Ado Local Government Area, Benue State.
The late former Head of State, Gen. Murtala Muhammed, who was also honoyred, created Benue State on February 3, 1976.
