Ex-NUJ treasurer laid to rest

The remains of Chief Aaron Onuora, a veteran journalist and former Treasurer of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ebonyi State Council, has been committed to mother earth in his Umukwa village, Nawfia, Njikoka local government area of Anambra State.

He was buried on Friday, 3rd January, 2025 .

Onuora, a member of Knights of Anglican communion and former member of Correspondents’Chapel of the NUJ, Ebonyi State, passed away at the age of 78 .

He was Secretary of Igbo Union in Ogoja who assisted in settling disputes between Ndigbo and indigenous people of Ogoja, Cross River State.

He started his journalism career with the defunct Renaissance Newspaper, East Central State, which metamorphosed into Daily Star Newspaper.

He later joined Anambra State Newspaper and Publishing Corporation, publishers of National Light Newspaper from where he was sent to represent the newspaper in Cross River State and later transferred to Abakaliki, Ebonyi State as the Correspondent when the state was created in 1996.

He represented Ebonyi NUJ in 2005 pilgrimage in Israel. He was the pioneer Treasurer of NUJ in the state from 1997 – 2003.
