Former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mike Omeri, has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the Nasarawa South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The confirmation followed the party’s senatorial primary election where stakeholders and delegates unanimously adopted Omeri as the sole candidate of the party for the contest.
Confirming the outcome of the exercise on Wednesday, the Returning Officer for the senatorial primary election, Mr. Ahsiya Amamara JP, said the process complied with the party’s constitution and reflected the collective decision of members across the zone.
According to him, “The process was seamless and in line with the constitution of the party as amended. Since the party unanimously agreed to adopt a consensus candidate, I have no option than to confirm Dr. Mike Omeri as the candidate of the PDP for the Nasarawa South Senatorial District.”
Speaking shortly after his confirmation, Omeri described his emergence as a victory for unity and internal democracy within the party, saying the development signaled a strong beginning for the PDP ahead of the 2027 elections.
