Immediate past Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission, NCPC, Reverend Tor Uja, said he has written to the Presidency demanding reasons for his sack.
Rev. Uja made the disclosure while answering questions on a live Radio Benue programme, “60 Minutes With You.”
Asked why he was sacked as NCPC Executive Secretary, Rev Uja stated that he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari to seek an explanation but was yet to get a reply.
“After I handed over, I wrote to the President that I need to know why I was sacked,” he stated.
“If I stole money send me to court and jail me, if I did not, if my only sin was doing a good job, then you need to give me back my good name.”
The former Executive Secretary said he inherited empty coffers and debts of over N300 million when he assumed office, cleared them and left behind over N3.5 billion as well as $7.5 million dollars at the time of his sack.
He stressed that he set out to strengthen the NCPC so that it could become a strong institution with the capacity to stand on its own if government decided to pull out of pilgrimage in the future.
Rev Uja stated that during his tenure he defended Nigeria’s interests and made sure that the nation’s interest prevailed and stood against those who consider the country as a big rich fool.
